GREAT USEFUL TIPS TO FOLLOW IF DISASTER COMES YOUR WAY!

THINGS TO DO:

  • Stop the water source if at possible.
  • Call a plumber or trade that will fit that need.
  • Call 571-733-7900 or 571-221-9203 immediately so we can be on our way and to give you any advice that you may need in the meantime.
  • Turn on your air conditioning/heating system so help start the drying process.
  • To help prevent furniture staining on carpets, place furniture on wood blocks or aluminum foil.
  • Move personal belongings ie. Knickknacks, photos, paintings, and art objects to a safe, dry location.
  • If hardwood floors are at risk take up wet rugs and carpets
  • Move electronics to a dry, safe location. Punch tiny holes in a sagging ceiling to relieve trapped water.
  • Make sure to place something underneath the holes beforehand to trap any water.
  • If your ceilings are sagging, punch small holes in order for the trapped water to escape.
  • Be sure to place a bucket/container underneath before you punch out the holes in the ceiling to catch any of the water that may be in the ceiling.
  • Call your insurance carrier.

THINGS NOT TO DO:

  • To prevent any electrical shock, be sure to not touch any electrical source until you are positive that the electricity is shut off.
  • While standing on wet floors do not operate TV’s, vacuums or any electrical appliances. If the ceiling is wet, do not turn on any ceiling fans.
